Kanaka Maoli Pledge

Aloha mai kākou,

`O wau `o Hanale Kalamakū Lee Loy, he haumana wau i ka papa alaka`i me Kumu Lisa Pana.
Ua hana wau i ka ha`awina no nā haumana o Kamehameha.  Hiki ia lākou ke a`o ana i
ka ha`i `ōlelo  Kanaka Maoli.

My name is Hanale Kalamaku Lee Loy; I am a student in Ms. Panaʻs Student government and Leadership class.
I have prepared a lesson for the students of Kamehameha.  They can learn and become familiar with the
Kanaka Maoli Pledge.

My intention was to create a tool to assist the students in learning the Kanaka Maoli Pledge, an important pledge written by Randie Kamuela
Fong, reminding us who we are as Hawaiian people.

Welcome Back Warriors

On Thursday, August 4, 2011 our school year began with a Welcome Back Assembly featuring LHB, a local band from Hilo.  The band rocked the Lunalilo Hale and all students were excited to be back in school.  With many changes upon us, we are confident that the year will be filled with exciting and fun events and activities and we look forward to making it a memorable year.

Each advisory would verse each other and who ever had the most points out of five times would advance to the finals. Eventually we got down to the last two advisories which were Marsh and Canion. It was a heated comeptition the whole time but in the end Canions advisory came out on top.

New Years Welcome Back Assembly 2011

On January 6th we had our New years assembly for the whole high school. The assembly was to inspire everyone to create a New years resolution. Our ASKS President and Vice President Makaiwa (left) and Jairus (right), along with the rest of the ASKS planned the assembly on their winter break. The event was complete with the top 10 new years resolutions of 2011, an inspiring clip about a man born without any limbs, and a local dance crew.

Wahine Basketball Cages the Cougars

Coach Arima’s update on the Wahine Basketball game against Kea’au, 12/14/2010….”as usual, the game started off slow in the first half knotted at 11 after the 1st quarter and at the end of the half we were up 21-19. In the third, we stepped up our defense and created timely turnovers to take a 9 point lead going into the final period (35-26). In the fourth period, Keaau hung close and hit some big treys, but our young squad kept their composure in the last few minutes handling their defensive pressure, and pulled out the win. Katelynne Paleka-Kennedy had another big night scoring 13 points and grabbing 20 boards for us. Keana Kaohimaunu had 10, and Chelsea Poe and Shaylyn Kahawai 8 each.”
